Cocoon is a product that brings value to Internet users of all ages. With anonymous browsing, privacy on shared computers, secure wifi connections, and freedom from Facebook tracking Cocoon has the features you need when surfing the web to keep yourself protected and private. Virtual World Computing is actively getting the word out about Cocoon because we know that people will want our product. In our Jetsetter Concert Giveaway, launched yesterday, we are reaching out to the tech savvy, generation Y with the hope that they will, through social media and others, spread the word about Cocoon.
Generation Y (born between 1980 and 1999) is the largest demographic in United States history (businessinsider.com). This generation is tech savvy, immune to old-fashioned marketing techniques, heavily influenced by their peers, and always “on the go” with their mobile devices. Y’s weariness and distrust of advertising makes it somewhat of a challenge to market to them, but their social media power, mobility with cell phones and tablets, and tech savvy, if done well, marketing to this group has viral potential, and this is why we are reaching out to them.
Generation Y’s characteristics, when it comes to marketing, have helped us design our Jetsetter Concert Giveaway. We are going to be giving away two tickets to any concert or music festival in the world and the difference left of $3,000 cash. We chose this prize because generation Y is an experience based generation. Generation Y wants to go places, see things, create memories, and capture all of them so they can share them with their friends. By offering the chance to go anywhere in the world for a concert, we are offering an experience of a lifetime.
We are promoting the Jetsetter Concert Giveaway on Pandora music radio. We feel that this is a great place to advertise our giveaway because Pandora is everywhere. Pandora is on over 200 devices and the number of hours listened, per month, is currently at around 1.1 Billion. Generation Y consists of almost 65% of Pandora listeners so we have a large audience to market to.
Our Giveaway is meant to get Generation Y in the door because, as said earlier, this generation has been trained to ignore advertising. With a prize like ours, we feel that we will be hard to ignore, especially because our prize is unique in that the winner chooses the prize. That is not all we offer, however. Cocoon offers a revolutionary new Internet that will improve generation Y’s experience on the web. Cocoon will protect people from email phishing scams, scams spread on Facebook, and malware and viruses that are connected to the ever-popular act of streaming music, television, and movies. These all bring value to generation Y.
